The Canon EOS 50D

The Canon EOS 50D

The Canon EOS 50D is one of the latest SLR digital cameras in the market and it is an upgrade of the Canon EOS 40D. The main differences include a boost in mega pixels and the image processor in this camera is updated. You will also notice several minor changes in the 50D.

The megapixel counts on the Canon EOS 50D are the highest among all the digital SLR cameras that are available. It has 15.1 megapixels. The size of the sensor on this device is the same as its predecessors.

The image quality is good and you will have great color accuracy and saturation when using both the flash and natural light. You can use these cameras in situations where you have low light but the pictures will have some color noise.

The Canon EOS 50D body is largely similar to the 40D and the differences are limited. Its Live View mode comes with a dedicated button that is handier. The autofocus and metering systems on this camera are similar to those found on its predecessor but it has a face-detection mode which is not available in any other digital SLR device. This mode is available for both the Live View shooting and viewfinder. It also has an auto focus feature that allows you to fine tune to suit your lens. You will also find a dust reduction feature that is similar to the one found on the 40D.

One of the most impressive improvements is the VGA LCD that measures 3 inches and its resolution is 920,000 dots for each inch. This is a big improvement compared to the 23,000 pixel that is available on the 40D. With this improved resolution, you will be able to preview your pictures more easily.

The Canon EOS 50D also has 6.3 frames for each second and this makes it a great choice for users who want to take pictures during sporting events.

The Live View mode that is available on the camera is very convenient because the button is well placed. This mode also supports phase detection and contrast detection.

The menu on this camera has undergone some changes and it is more graphical now but it still has the Canon design. This makes is very easy to use if you have worked with other canon models before. If you are a professional photographer, you will be able to include a transmitter that will allow you to transmit images wirelessly from this camera. There is a four-way joystick on the camera that can be used with the dial to navigate the menus. The main disadvantage with the control on this camera is that it will take you two steps to change your focus points.

The viewfinder on the Canon EOS 50D is not very impressive because it does not work well with the sensor. The coverage you get using the viewfinder will not match what you capture on your sensor. This means that in some situations, you have to retake a shot when you want to get an accurate composition.
