The Nikon D90

The Nikon D90

When the Nikon D90 was introduced, it was the only digital SLR camera that included a video recording feature. It succeeded the Nikon D80 and has several improvements. The LCD inch is similar to its predecessor but it comes with a new sensor. Its 12.3 megapixels resolution is definitely better than the 10.2 megapixels the D80 has.

This camera is heavier than the Nikon D80 and its design is solid but it is not very heavily built. The grip on the Nikon D90 is very comfortable and the buttons are conveniently placed. The menu system is crowded but you will not have a problem navigating through it. The elements on the menu system are very friendly and it includes a My Menu feature that makes it possible to save some of the settings that you use regularly. If you have not used a Nikon before, you do not have to worry because its interface is very friendly.

At the back of this camera, you will find a button that allows you to use the live view feature for video and still recording. The disadvantage of this feature is that it is too slow when shooting stills and you are better of using the viewfinder.

To record video using the Nikon D90, you have to set your autofocus with the live view. The camera adjusts automatically for exposure when recording but you have to adjust the focus manually.

The camera has a built-in microphone but its audio quality is not great. This means that you cannot rely on it if you want to record some audio notes while you are shooting stills.

The autofocus on the Nikon D90 is very quick and accurate. Its auto flash also works well but when you change from RAW to JPEG, the images tend to be noticeably softer.

The quality of the images produced by the Nikon D90 is very good in comparison to other camera models. The LCD screen on the camera is about 3 inches and is an improvement on its predecessor. Its frame of view is slightly larger and it comes with a dust cleaning sensor. It also has an 11 point 3D autofocus and includes a GPS attachment which is optional.

Apart from the fact that you can take video with the Nikon D90, it has a variety of features that make it a great option when you are looking for a digital SLR camera.
